One reason for the relative lack of success of CAR T cell therapy against solid tumors is that the treatment targets only one cancer antigen, and tumor cells that don’t express the antigen can escape the T cell attack. Researchers have now found a way to overcome this obstacle, using a vaccine that boosts the response of CAR T cells and promotes antigen spreading.
