Summary:
With the Powers of Minus Ten (POMT) app, users transform their iPad/iPhone into an incredibly powerful microscope—one that allows users to view an animated human hand at successive zoom levels all the way down to the level of RNA molecules. As users zoom in with their fingers on the screen, the screen morphs into each new “world” contained within the hand—first there is the skin, then individual cells, then a cell’s cytoplasm, and finally molecules like mRNA and tRNA. Along their journey, users can click on individual components to see a description of that element. Clicking on components also “collects” those items, which allows the user to further analyze them in the “lab” portion of the app and also unlocks additional games (in the iPad version).
