Welcome to this special bioprocessing supplement which describes new solutions for cell culture and cell line development, host cell protein analysis, and product recovery.
In the coming decade, cell culture and cell line development will need to become more technologically advanced if developers and manufacturers are to cope with growing demand for biologics such as monoclonal antibodies, vaccines, and cell and gene therapies.
Specific upstream manufacturing challenges that will need to be overcome are detailed in an article as well as challenges posed by host cell proteins (HCPs). Purification and recovery challenges facing developers of antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates, gene therapies, and other biologics are discussed in another article.
