Rating:
Strong Points: Easy access ti information
Weak Points: Not for everyone

Summary:
Speaking of diversity, the seas are probably the most understudied ecosystem on earth, despite a tremendous amount of interest in the ocean and species on the ocean floor. If you’re interested in learning about the various marine areas of the world, there is no simpler system I’ve seen for navigating them than the “click on the globe” method employed at the Sea Around Us Project site. After clicking on a region of the world, visitors can learn more about species harvests, biodiversity, ecosystems, size, coral reef size (with respect to the world), Sea Mounts (undersea peaks), and primary production (information on fixation of inorganic carbon by ocean organisms). Yes, there is a lot of the geek factor here, and the site is not for everyone, but even casual observers will find interesting items by simple browsing through the pages.
