Summary:

Neuroscience is an incredibly diverse field of active research. Due to the immense implications for human health, many different NIH institutes currently fund research that seeks to understand nervous system function in both healthy and diseased states. The NIH Blueprint for Neuroscience Research is a collaborative initiative by the 15 NIH institutes, centers, and offices that fund neuroscience research seeking to tackle crosscutting research areas extending beyond any single institute. Toward this mission, the website for the NIH Blueprint for Neuroscience Research compiles for researchers current funding opportunities (including those sponsored by the Blueprint initiative itself), links to online resources and tools, and information about the “Blueprint Grand Challenges”—large research projects such as the Human Connectome Project and the Grand Challenge on Pain. In addition, the website provides resources for K–12 teachers to foster general knowledge and curiosity about the nervous system.
