Summary:
As its name implies, the National Environmental Methods Index is a clearinghouse of methods relevant for monitoring components of the environment including water, sediment, air, and tissues. The index can be searched at many levels. First, one can simply browse the collection of methods. This isn’t always practical as the list is long and scrolling isn’t exactly a great way to find something. Users can also look for desired items by performing a General Search (specify—media name, search number, source, instrumentation), a Regulatory Search (specify—analyte name, analyte code, or relevant regulation), or a Multi-Analyte Search (specify—1, 2, or 3 analytes). Recently added methods are noted on the opening page and a collection of links provides a bit of breadth. Downloadable PDF-formatted full text of the methods are available. All information on the site is free and is public property, so no additional permission is needed for downloads.
