Rating:
Strong Points: Interesting ads
Weak Points: A bit misleading

Summary:
Here’s a site with a bit of an identity crisis. Titled Genetics Jump Station, it aims to provide visitors with links to other sites related to genetics; or so one would think. At first glance, it did just that. The opening page has links with titles of PCR Troubleshooting, Influenza Virology, and many similar topics. Clicking on many of these brings up a page devoted to a book by Horizon Press. Beneath these topic links at the top of the page, there are categories, such as Jump Sites, which strangely enough are links to other jump sites. I was just about to scream, “Where is the useful content?” when I hit on a few links on Online Protocols, Gene Chips, and Forensic Sciences. These were scattered among the many commercial sites related to Horizon Press and other presumably paid advertisers. Though I wasn’t fond of the commercial nature of the site, I was in fact surprised at how many of the commercial links were interesting. Just be forewarned about the ads.
