Rating:
Strong Points: Nice design, good organization
Weak Points: Not much depth to material

Summary:

The International Baccalaureate (IB) program provides high-achieving high school students an alternative to Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Similar to AP courses, IB courses are followed by exams that often equate to college credit if students perform well. BioNinja is a whimsical educational site that provides review material for the IB Biology exams (both the standard-level and high-level tests). Standard-level topics include cell and molecular biology, genetics, and human physiology, among others, while high-level topics include subjects like animal physiology, metabolism, and plant biology. In addition, review materials for various optional-content modules (neurobiology, ecology, human physiology, and biotechnology) are also included. The review materials themselves are presented as concise text descriptions with accompanying illustrations, all of which map onto specific learning objectives and skills. Though the depth of the material is (appropriately enough) aimed at the high school level, college educators may also find the site to be a useful review resource for their students.
