Leica Microsystems (www.leica-microsystems.com) and Mauna Kea Technologies (www.maunakeatech.com) signed an exclusive distribution agreement for Leica, a German high-tech optics company, to market the Cellvizio® system developed by Mauna Kea. As a result, Leica Microsystems says the deal extends its range of products to include an endoscopic confocal microscope for in-vivo research applications. The agreement covers Europe, North America, and Japan. Cellvizio will be added as Leica FCM1000 (Fiber Confocal Microscope). The product, reportedly, can be introduced non-destructively into the insides of living animals, producing video image sequences at a rate of twelve frames per second.
