Company’s Etest® complements bioMérieux’ Vitek range of products.

bioMérieux has acquired AB BIODISK, a Swedish company whose leading product line, Etest®, is used to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration of antibiotics, antifungal agents, and antimycobacterial agents. The firm reported 2007 sales of over $20 million (13 million Euro).

According to bioMérieux,  the two companies have significant commercial synergies, and the AB BIODISK product portfolio is complementary to bioMérieux’s culture media and automated VITEK® range for antibiotic susceptibility testing.

bioMérieux will commercialize AB BIODISK’s products under the bioMérieux brand.
