Sugar Transferase for Glycoproteins

An alpha-2,6-sialyltransferase is available for in vitro sialylation of glycoproteins and complex molecules in the form of human monoclonal antibodies. The enzyme, which is offered for research and pilot-scale applications in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, is designed to deliver up to 95% bi-antennary sialylation of N-linked glycan chains within six to eight hours. It is produced under animal-origin-free conditions. The alpha-2,6-sialyltransferase, which is based on a human genome sequence and expressed in mammalian expression systems, complies with quality-by-design standards, and is meant to be the first in a series of glycoengineering products.
