During this almost year-long severe global economic downturn, much talk has centered on government efforts around the world to create stimulus packages to jump-start financial activity. Indeed, a number of nations are already pumping or thinking of pumping money into the business sector to create jobs, support new companies, or bolster faltering firms. Recently there have been suggestions that governments should earmark some stimulus funds for support of venture capital companies who are placing their bets on new biotechnology firms.
