Summary:
We have all, at one point or another, sought or appreciated the sage advice of a mentor. In research this may be your PI; in medicine, you may seek advice from the attending physician. With Virtual Mentor, the American Medical Association provides medical students and doctors with yet another resource to consult—one that you can casually peruse when you are not on the wards. Virtual Mentor is an online ethics journal that is completely free (and, as a nice bonus, completely advertisement-free as well). Each monthly issue is themed, with themes over the past few years ranging from “global health ethics in practice,” to “caring for the incarcerated patient,” to “complementary and alternative therapies—medicine’s response.” Incredibly informative and insightful, the articles and perspectives presented within Virtual Mentor are interesting not only to doctors and doctors-to-be, but also to anybody who spends time thinking about the challenges of delivering healthcare in our society today.
