Summary:
If you’re into aquariums, you probably know a bit about cichlids. They are mouth brooders with interesting mating behaviors and constitute over 1,500 species. In appearance, these fish range from colorful and beautiful to plain and ugly. Apart from that obvious parallel with human beings, almost all cichlids are freshwater fish. At the Guide to South American Cichlidae site you’ll discover a wealth of information about these interesting organisms. This includes pictures, descriptions, diagrams, and geographical distributions. Organization of information is excellent, with easy navigation through the numerous genera they encompass. A phylogenetic tree is also available with hyperlinks, but it is not complete (at least in hyperlinking). An informative site with a lot to offer.
