Researchers from the University of Kent, in a study in the Journal of Sports Sciences, report that parental pressure to be perfect makes young male athletes positive about doping and more likely to use banned substances to enhance sporting performance. Because of the risks associated with such usage, the investigators suggest antidoping programs should target junior athletes early in their sporting careers, and that parents should be made clearly aware of the potential consequences of such pressure.
