Earlier this year the company started manufacturing lab products locally.

Thermo Fisher Scientific has opened a technology center in Shanghai to provide engineering and support services for customers in China involved in life sciences and other industries. In July the firm opened a demonstration center in Beijing, complementing its existing demonstration laboratory in Shanghai. Earlier this year the firm also started the local manufacture of laboratory products for the life science industry.

“Thermo Fisher is committed to serving its customers in China with products, services, and support that meet the local demands of this important growth market,” remarks Marc N. Casper, president and CEO. “The China Technology Center is another step in our ongoing investment to expand our operations there and leverage our depth of capabilities to develop and manufacture products in China for China.”

Thermo Fisher started operating in China some 30 years ago. The firm has also headquartered its environmental instruments division in China .
