To be commercialized as Apo-TRACE, the compound is part of a family of small molecules related to cell death.

Sigma-Aldrich licensed NeuroSurvival Technologies’ marker for molecular imaging of apoptosis in vitro and in vivo in animals. Sigma-Aldrich will manufacture and market the marker under the commercial name Apo-TRACE™.

The marker is a member of a family of apoptosis-targeting small molecules that NST developed. Another molecule of the family, ApoSense-PET, is in clinical trials for imaging apoptosis in vivo in humans with PET and is not part of this agreement.
