Applied Bio will custom build arrays of TaqMan® SNP Genotyping Assays preloaded on BioTrove’s OpenArray™ platform.

Applied Biosystems and BioTrove signed an agreement focused on the commercialization of an analysis platform for high-throughput genotyping applications.

According to the terms of the contract, Applied Biosystems will be responsible for developing and marketing custom-built arrays of TaqMan® SNP Genotyping Assays preloaded on BioTrove’s OpenArray ™ platform. This will give researchers a cheaper alternative to high-throughput genotyping, according to the firms.

“The strength of the product design resulting from this collaboration,” according to Al Luderer, Ph.D., president and CEO of BioTrove, “provides researchers in public and private industries with the speed, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness of the BioTrove OpenArray platform and the specificity and reproducibility of Applied Biosystems’ comprehensive line of TaqMan assay products all in a single solution.”

Applied Biosystems, in a separate agreement, granted BioTrove a worldwide license to manufacture and sell real-time thermal cyclers and array sample loaders in the life sciences field. BioTrove also has the right to develop real-time PCR applications for its OpenArray platform.
