Summary:

A great resource for biology students, the Mitosis app by Inkling Systems teaches users the basics of this process of cell division. Users explore the various phases of mitosis with the visual and audio tutorials, which require the user to interact with a graphic depicting a cell before he/she can proceed to the next phase. (For example, one set of instructions directs the user to “double tap on the nucleus several times to cause the nuclear membrane to dissolve.”) As part of the “tutor” section of the app, there is also a 10-question quiz. The second component of the app is the “library” section, which includes a few videos and image slideshows depicting mitosis in actual cells. To round out the app there is a glossary of terms, as well as a “resources” tab containing links to online resources.
