Summary:

Like any good molecular biology lab-focused app, the Cell Culture app by Life Technologies includes generic tools such as a lab timer and dilution calculator. In addition, it also contains a number of cell culture-specific tools, such as a cell counter (and a very nice one at that, with large buttons that are color-coded green for live cells, red for dead cells) and calculators for cell viability and passaging cells. However, perhaps the best feature of the app is not any of the tools, but the 57-page cell culture manual. This manual is an excellent beginner’s guide to all aspects of cell culture, including topics such as aseptic technique, types of biological contamination, and different types of cell lines. Combining the manual with the practical in-lab tools, the Cell Culture app is sure to be a valuable resource to many researchers.
