CD Antigens (developer: Wiley Publishing)

  • Extensive collection of molecules included
  • No detailed information, can only browse by molecule name
Platform:   iPad
Cost:   Free

This app is exactly as advertised—it is all about the cell-surface antigens known as CD molecules. The CD Antigens app is useful as a quick look-up reference for specific CD molecules, as users can only browse the information by molecule name (as opposed to a particular chemical property or interaction). There are 350 molecules included in the list, and for each molecule information is provided for five categories: alternate names, molecular weight and molecular structure information, cellular expression, function, and usefulness. There is not a great deal of information provided for each of these categories—only a few sentences at most. Therefore, while a useful reference, this app will not satiate those looking for detailed descriptions of their favorite CD molecules.
