Rating:
Strong Points: flash Learning Objects
Weak Points: Poor access to materials

Summary:
The Web is a great teaching mechanism, if used properly, and the tools are rapidly improving. A popular format for Web delivery is the use of the Flash programming environment. The Wisconsin Online Resource Center is a central resource of what they term Learning Objects, which are essentially Flash-formatted presentations on selected topics. The opening site provides access to a search engine to help visitors finds Learning Objects they may desire. While I found informative Learning Objects (glycolysis, for example) by this method, I was surprised and disappointed that some attempt was not made to organize the educational materials to allow visitors to scan through them and identify items of interest. Perhaps this could be done in a future version of the site.
