Summary:

One aspect of the “how do we deal with biological datasets” question is data visualization. The Visualizing Biological Data (VIZBI) initiative—an international conference series—brings scientists together to discuss exactly that. On the VIZBI website scientists can find not only information about the upcoming annual conference, they also have access to all posters and videos from previous years. (The first conference was held in 2010.) Therefore, you need not have the time and money to travel around the globe to partake in this awesome initiative. Additional features of the website include a blog that is updated semi-regularly and often includes new animations or other neat graphics, as well as animations for the VizbiPlus project, a project to create scientifically accurate animations about cutting-edge biomedical research topics. So far there are only three animations, but more are slated to arrive.
