Proteinchemist.com is somewhat like an online hardware store…except for people who care more about nondenaturing electrophoresis than drywall. There is a diverse mix of general information about various aspects of protein chemistry—such as membrane protein topology, dynamic light scattering, kinetics, and chromatography—and this is sprinkled with protocols for common laboratory procedures. There is also a compilation of analysis programs contained within the “Protein Chemist’s Tool Kit Page.” Although some of the tools are quite handy (the sequence relativizer, for instance, calculates the pI, molecular weight, and hydrophobicity of your protein), I encountered errors with some of the tools, and many of them also appeared to be inexplicably restricted. Hopefully these glitches will be fixed in the near future, as the site does have a lot to offer for those who find themselves partial to proteins.
