Pathogen Portal

www.pathogenportal.org
  • Good site design and organization
  • Few external (non-BRC NIAID-supported) resources given

At first glance, the name of this site makes me think that this is the last place I’d like to visit, thank you very much! However, while a “pathogen portal” may not make for a great vacation spot, it does make for an excellent online resource for scientists studying organisms that are harmful to human health. The Pathogen Portal, a project funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), the NIH, and the Department of Health and Human Services, contains news, datasets, publications, and presentations, as well as links to a few other resources. The portal is a repository that links NIAID-sponsored Bioinformatics Resource Centers (BRCs), so a great deal of information can be accessed from this site. So, if you are involved in pathogen research, be sure to add Pathogen Portal to your list of must-visit destinations.
