Summary:
By Jove, I’ll wager you can’t figure out from the title of this one what it contains. OK, time’s up. Designed as a “video journal for biological research,” JoVE greets visitors to the opening page with live motion videos. At first glance, that seems a bit gimmicky, but the more I thought about it, the more sense it made to have a video-rich site for biologists. As noted at JoVE, reproducing advanced state-of-the-art techniques in newly published studies is often problematic, so why not take an expert at the technique, videotape them, and the stream the result on the Web? Indeed, the real question should be why someone hasn’t done this before. Highlights of available videos at press time included Fabrication of Thermoplastic Microfluidic Channels, Isolation of Mouse Lymph Notes Using Miltenyi MACS Purification, and Pyrosequencing – A Simple Method for Accurate Genotyping. There are a few treasures here to discover. An excellent idea well done.
