Rating:
Strong Points: Wide range of topics and resource types
Weak Points: None

Summary:

While exploring the Exploratorium website (how appropriate), it is easy to forget that this is an accompanying website to a physical museum located in San Francisco. That’s because this site could easily be a standalone online museum, thanks to its diverse collection of online exhibits, interactive features, hands-on activities, and videos. A great feature of the website is its “who are you” organization. Visitors select from eight categories: educators, parents, artists, scientists, geeks, teens, museum professionals, or “curious,” and the site directs you to an appropriate collection of resources. (A word to the wise, though—the “scientists” page primarily provides information on how scientists can contribute to the website, so if you’re just looking for random, neat scientific tidbits, I’d check out the “geeks” or “curious” pages instead.)
